Meet Me
Iām an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who has spent the last decade working with families and their children to improve mental health and increase connection in relationships.
My Experience
I have experience in Non-Government Organisations and NSW Health, in both in-patient and community settings. For the past two years I was the Senior Social Worker for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), working within the senior clinical leadership team to support colleagues across the district. I have worked with some of the most acute and complex mental health presentations in the district.
I established Kin Therapy as a holistic, compassionate and targeted service and to bring a family-based approach to mental health.
In addition to Kin, I am a Casual Academic working with the University of Newcastle Masters of Social Work program. I am also completing post-graduate study in Clinical Family Therapy through the renowned Melbourne-based Bouverie Centre. I continue to work casually within the CAMHS team at the John Hunter Hospital.
My Approach
I am approachable, kind and offer therapy from a warm, relational approach. My practice centers trust, safety and the relationships that matter most to you. I work with individuals, couples and families.
I view the individual within the broader system of their lives and experience. While diagnoses can be helpful, my role is to help people understand themselves, their world and build a sense of self that includes all their unique attributes. I take an Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach in most of my interventions as I have found this is helpful in reducing the impacts of Depression and Anxiety and building meaningful connections.
While I am collaborative and friendly I take safety seriously. I am here to ensure people are cared for when they are most vulnerable. My approach includes safety planning, collaboration with other health professionals as needed and clear recommendations. This is especially important in the context of treating Eating Disorders. I will always discuss my confidentiality limits, your needs and my obligations towards you. You can learn more about these on my FAQ.
My Qualifications
Post-Graduate Certificate in Clinical Family Therapy (expected completion late-2026)
Masters of Social Work (Professional Qualifying)
Bachelor of Arts
My Modalities
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Based Treatment - Eating Disorder (CBT-E), Family Based Treatment (FBT) and Gottman Therapy.
